Our Story

Two families. Different homes. One shared journey

The idea for TinkerBox began through conversations between two families navigating parenthood together.

JJ and Nitesh had been close friends and business partners for years. Their families knew each other well, and by coincidence, both were expecting their first child around the same time.

Then Vihana and Aditi arrived, and parenthood changed the way we looked at everyday life.

The questions were no longer about what we had read or planned. They appeared in sleepless nights, feeding routines, first smiles, uncertain decisions, and the joy of watching our daughters discover something new.

JJ and Pragya were raising Vihana in a joint family, surrounded by grandparents, familiar voices, and many helping hands. Nitesh and his family were raising Aditi in a nuclear family, creating their own routines within a smaller family setup.

Our homes and experiences were different, but the questions we carried were often the same. We wondered whether we were spending enough meaningful time with our children, when to help and when to step back, how to encourage learning without rushing them, and what kind of play truly mattered.

And beyond the skills they were developing, what values were quietly taking shape?

These questions became part of our regular conversations. We shared what we were noticing, what seemed to work, what did not, and what we wished we had approached differently.

Like most parents, we had access to books, videos, experts, parenting methods and countless opinions. Much of it was useful, but it was not always easy to understand what felt right for our children, our families, and the environment we hoped to create at home.

Over time, we stopped looking for one perfect answer. We began observing more closely, reflecting on our experiences and learning from our children.

Montessori helped us appreciate the importance of respecting a child’s pace, creating a thoughtful environment, and allowing learning to unfold through movement, repetition and hands-on exploration.

CVMS (Chetna Vikas Mulya Shiksha) inspired by Madhyastha Darshan, helped us think more deeply about relationships, trust, respect, awareness, and coexistence.

Together, these ideas shaped the way we began to see childhood.

We realised that children do not learn only from the toys or activities placed in front of them. They also learn from how we speak to them, how patiently we wait while they try, how we respond when things do not go as planned, and how respected, included, and secure they feel in everyday family life.

This became the foundation of TinkerBox.

We create thoughtfully designed play materials that support movement, concentration, curiosity and problem-solving during the first two years. But the toys are only one part of the experience. The conversations around them, the values in each interaction, and the parent-child relationship matter just as much.

A simple activity can become a moment of patience, a repeated attempt can build confidence, a shared discovery can deepen connection, and a small everyday role can help a child feel included.

Through our products, content, and community, we now hope to share useful ideas, honest reflections, and real parenting experiences—not as people with all the answers, but as parents who are still observing, learning, and growing too.

Because childhood is shaped not only by what children play with but also by the relationships, values, and everyday moments surrounding them.

And we would love for you to learn and grow alongside us.
